We are currently seeking applicants for instructor positions.

PROGRAM GOALS
  • Use the Creation, the Word of God, prayer, and our Biblical lifestyles to draw people closer to Jesus Christ

  • Study science concepts in nature's classroom

  • Develop awareness and appreciation for the natural environment and its delicate balance

  • Develop a sense of responsibility and cooperation through group living and learning

  • Develop an understanding of self-worth and the worth of others

Subject areas include biology, geology, astronomy, zoology, botany, ecology, conservation, marine biology, nature study, and outdoor living skills, for grades five through eight.

INSTRUCTOR - Outdoor Education


QUALIFICATIONS: The Instructor with Genesis Account must agree with the Statement of Faith of the Association of Christian Schools International and have a strong recommendation from a pastor of an evangelical church. The Instructor should have a degree from a recognized four-year college or university in one of the sciences, recreation leadership, environmental education, outdoor education, Bible, and/or any other field related to teaching young people. The Instructor should have had some successful experience working with or teaching students in grades five through eight. Other qualifications that would be helpful in obtaining a position with Genesis Account are; a teaching credential, the ability to play a musical instrument or lead singing, and hobbies or skills related to wilderness camping or nature study.

TERM: The duties of an instructor are varied. They include teaching two classes per day, leading a one-hour elective, dining hall supervision, recreational and evening activities, and devotions. During a full day of camp, we work from 7:45 a.m. until the end of our nightly staff prayer meeting, which generally ends around 9:45. (We do have breaks in the schedule. ) The first and last days of camp are half days. Staff is generally expected to be in camp the night before a school arrives. Genesis Account has two seasons each school year, from September to mid November and from mid February to early June


COMPENSATION: Salary plus room and board while on site.  During the weekends, Genesis Account will assist instructors in obtaining free or inexpensive housing in the Oakhurst area or in camps where the staff is teaching during that period of time. An additional benefit of working with Genesis Account is the opportunity to live and work in some of the most beautiful areas of California.
